Introduction
“The greatest art of the future will be living comfortably from a small piece of land.” Abraham Lincoln.
Zachary had inherited three-acre land. Although he loved modern life, he and his wife were getting tired of city life and wanted to escape the rat race. They were in their early fifties and wished to restore health and happiness to their lives. Yet the thought of giving up their typical modern lifestyle and moving to the country scared them. Although they had heard a lot about living on a homestead, they weren’t sure it was the right move for them. Then Zachary was laid off during the pandemic, and that was the last straw. He had to somehow make ends meet. He sat down with his wife and had an honest discussion about their future. They both agreed to learn everything they could about homesteading before making their final decision. Wanting to start small, they started a small-scale garden with edible plants and culinary herbs. A year later, the duo was in high demand, selling organic products at a good price. They also had enough money to start garden beds and heritage poultry.
